February 2019
Hello to Everyone:
In most parts of the country, we've seen a wild, windy and very cold winter of 2019. Grand Rapids, Minnesota has been no exception. On some days, it's been colder here than on the North Pole! All this is due to the "Polar Vortex." We are not sure if Judy and her family experienced it this cold back in the 1920s, but at the conclusion of our newsletter, we'll present a few photos of the Judy Garland House for you.
No doubt, everyone is looking forward to spring! What better way to celebrate winter than to think about the 2019 Festival. This year, as noted earlier there will be two festivals - an Oz Festival for children, and a festival for Judy. Right now, we'd like to focus on The Judy Garland Festival so that those interested can make their travel plans.
There is something different and unusual about this year's Festival -- it has been arranged and paid for entirely by Judy Garland fans who come each year to Grand Rapids. The fans are also generously donating all money earned to benefit the Judy Garland Museum.
TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE BEGINNING APRIL 1st.
This year marks two important events: the 80th Anniversary of the release of The Wizard of Oz and the 50th Anniversary of Judy's passing. And Judy's legacy is still going strong.
Please enjoy the information. Other newsletters will be released with further information in the coming months.
